Rising Valley Park, 4701 Newton Road
The original use of Rising Valley Park was used for tanks during WWII. In 1977, the United States Government deeded 227.82 acres to Richfield and Hinckley Townships for the purpose of creating a public park and recreation area. In late 2005, Hinckley and Richfield Township Trustees found it was in the best interest of both communities to terminate this cooperative agreement.
Richfield Township assumed sole ownership of the 44.7 acre portion of the Rising Valley Park in Richfield Township. The remaining 183.3 acres located within Hinckley Township was deeded to the Cleveland Metroparks.
Rising Valley Park has the East Branch of the Rocky River running through it and offers a diversity of ecosystems. Teamp sports such as baseball, softball and soccer utilize the playing fields. The park also has picnic areas, pavilions, playground areas, hiking and seasonal sled-riding and cross country skiing.
