October 8, 2001

Regular scheduled Richfield Township Board of Trustees meeting was called to order at 8:10 p.m.

 Roll Call: Trustees - Robert Hooper, Shano Cica-Mraz and Robert Luther

                  Clerk / Treasurer - Mark Uhrich

 Others present: Laurie Gilmore - Office Administrator, Sergeant Joe Davis

 Mr. Hooper made a motion to approve the September 10 and September 24 minutes, seconded by Ms. Cica-Mraz: Mr. Luther – No; Mr. Hooper – Yes; Ms. Mraz – Yes, motion passes by majority.

 Mr. Hooper made a motion to approve warrant report 6349 to 6394, seconded by Ms. Cica-Mraz, motion carried unanimously.

 Sergeant Davis presented the Police Report – He indicated that the first week of the Township police and Village Police merger went well.

 Ms. Gilmore presented the Administration report - Richfield Township has received quotes for the senior snow plowing program. Steve Gaspar submitted the lowest quote at $12.00, additionally he performed this service for Village last with no problem. Mr. Hooper made a motion to hire Steve Gaspar to perform the Richfield Township senior snow  plowing this winter, seconded by Ms. Mraz: Mr. Hooper – Yes; Ms. Mraz – Yes; Mr. Luther – abstain, motion passes by majority.

 Ms. Gilmore will request  reimbursement from Summit County for CBD grant for the painting of Fellowship Hall.

 Mr. Luther – The new storage building is complete, but it did not pass the final inspection. Mr Luther made a motion to send the unused bird netting back to the supplier from the new building, seconded by Mr. Hooper, motion carried unanimously.

 Ms. Mraz made a motion to hire Automated Services Group to assess the assets of the Richfield Township Police Department not exceed $2,750.00, seconded by Mr. Hooper: Ms. Mraz – Yes, Mr. Hooper, Mr. Luther – No, motion passes by majority.

Citzens Forum:

Noel Shriver, 2597 Columbia Road, indicated his name was miss spelled on the September 24 minutes. Political signs shouldn’t be on the street side of the ditch.

Ken Bennent, 5150 Hecker Drive, commented that he has seen more visual police car sightings than in the past.

Nicolett Nagy, 4731 Black Road, thanked Mr. Hooper and Ms. Mraz for joining our police forces and finally bringing back our dispatch service in to our community

Mr. Charlie Easton, 5168 Streetsboro, based on Sergeant Davis’ report, the police department is falling short of the obligation of three to four officers per shift.

Mr. Rich Fleming, 2780 Columbia Road, wanted to know how the police would handle trespassing hunters on his property.

 Mr. Hooper made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 8:40 p.m., seconded by Ms. Mraz, motion carried unanimously.
