Richfield Township Board of Trustees Regular
May 30, 2001
Regularly scheduled Richfield Township Board of Trustees meeting was called to order at 8:00 p.m.
Roll Call: Trustees - Robert Hooper, Shano Cica-Mraz and Robert Luther
Clerk / Treasurer - Mark Uhrich
Others present: Laurie Gilmore, Office Administrator; Laurie Pinney, Zoning Inspector.
Mr. Hooper made a motion to approve warrant report #5943 to 5987, seconded by Mr. Luther, motion passes unanimously.
Zoning Department report – Ms. Pinney indicated that the Kirby Lake Estates preliminary plan was approved; BZA case #481, the private school located on Streetsboro Road was approved; Glencairn Forest proposed another modification to their plan and this modification might be on the Summit County Planning Commission agenda for June 29, 2001.
Police Department report – Chief Arbogast stated the MTD project is fully functional. 35 mailboxes were recently damaged and the Police Department has apprehended a suspect. Chief Arbogast read a letter and submitted a $500.00 donation from Mr. Rybka to the Richfield Township Trustees for the purchase of a defibrillator. Mr. Hooper made a motion to accept the donation, seconded by Ms. Cica-Mraz, motion passes unanimously. Police scanners are now purchased and installed in each vehicle.
Administration Department report – Ms. Gilmore updated the Trustees on the tennis court renovation issue, stating that the Village of Richfield will be willing to split the cost for renovation of the tennis court area into two tennis courts, one basketball court and a volleyball court. Mr. Hooper made a motion to proceed to obtain bids for repair and building the new courts, seconded by Ms. Cica-Mraz, motion passes unanimously.
Ms.Gilmore stated the Fellowship Hall repair required bids to get this project moving; Ms. Cica-Mraz made a motion to obtain bids for the repair of Fellowship Hall, seconded by Mr. Luther, motion passes unanimously.
Ms. Cica-Mraz made a motion to amend Resolution 1-2001, adjust Zoning Inspector’s bi-weekly hours from 45 to 50, retroactive to May 6, 2001, seconded by Mr. Hooper; Ms. Cica-Mraz – Yes, Mr. Hooper – Yes, Mr. Luther – No, motion passes by majority.
Regarding last years Hawkins Road project, Ms. Gilmore stated that Able Fencing was suing Richfield Township and Karvo Construction for non-payment. Summit County Engineer had indicated that Karvo did not do several items correctly and therefore, Richfield Township was withholding payment until items were resolved. Also, Summit Count Engineer’s office has been slow in responding to the Richfield Township needs and Ms. Gilmore was putting together another joint meeting with all parties to resolve this issue.
Public Forum:
Mr. Noel Shriver wanted to thank the Police Chief and staff. Also, he asked / commented about the zoning complaints he has filed with Zoning Department.
Ms. Shano Cica-Mraz made a motion to move into executive session to discuss pending and imminent legal matters, Mr. Robert Hooper seconded the motion, motion carried unanimously.
Regular meeting concludes at 9:00 p.m.
