The Richfield Township Trustee Meeting was called
to order at 7:15 pm on July 28, 2003
Roll Call: Trustees: Present – Shano Cica-Mraz, Laurie Gilmore, Robert Hooper
Clerk/Treasurer: Mark Uhrich
Others: Others present: Linda Bowmer-Office Administrator
Ms. Cica-Mraz made a motion to approve Warrant Report # 7930 - 77964, seconded
by Ms. Gilmore; motion carried unanimously.
Ms. Cica-Mraz made a motion to approve the July 14, 2003 Regular Trustee meeting
minutes seconded by Ms. Gilmore; motion carried unanimously.
Mr. Uhrich discussed the 2004 budget submitted to Summit County. The Township
continues to see a reduction receipts as sources such as the monthly Local
Government distributions continue to drop and property annexations reducing
Property Taxes. The passage of the Road Bridge levy in November 2002 and the
Police and Fire / EMS levies passed in May 2003 will help the township. The
uncertainty of the Separation matter and the limitations the township has on
generating receipts will require the proper stewardship by the Trustees. The
2004 budget is available for any resident to review.
Ms. Gilmore made a motion to adopt the 2004 budget, seconded by Ms. Cica-Mraz;
motion carried unanimously.
Ms. Bowmer discussed the recent rains and floods in our community. The area has
not been formally declared a Federal or State Disaster area. If this does occur
residents may apply for loan or grant to cover the cost of the floods. The
Township may be able to recover some of its costs and payroll dollars spent on
the floods.
Ms. Cica-Mraz made a motion to adopt Resolution number 16, seconded by Ms.
Gilmore; motion carried unanimously.
Ms Gilmore – The Road department participated in a mutual aid call and assisted
Peninsula during the recent floods.
Mr. Slagter presented a discussion on the Ohio Attorney General’s opinion
regarding the township separation matter. It provides a guideline for Summit
County to follow. It appears that the Township has upwards of $800,000 in
property at risk and the county may have to transfer the property to the
Village.
Ms. Mraz made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 8:15 p.m., seconded by Mr.
hooper; motion carried unanimously.
