RICHFIELD TOWNSHIP BOARD OF TRUSTEES
June 17, 2004
The regularly scheduled Richfield Township Trustee Meeting was called to order
at 7:04 p.m. on June 17, 2004.
Roll call: Trustees present: David Wyatt and Laurie Gilmore
Township Administrator: Linda Bowmer
Clerk & Zoning Inspector: Laurie Pinney
Approximately 30 attendees
Motion made by Ms. Gilmore and seconded by Mr. Wyatt to excuse Ms. Cica-Mraz
from the proceedings due to illness. Motion passed by unanimous approval of
those in attendance.
Motion made by Ms. Gilmore and seconded by Mr. Wyatt to accept the minutes of
May 27, 2004. Motion passed by unanimous approval of those in attendance.
Motion made by Ms. Gilmore and seconded by Mr. Wyatt to accept the minutes of
June 3, 2004. Motion passed by unanimous approval of those in attendance.
Motion to accept warrant report items 10585-10606 made by Ms. Gilmore and
seconded by Mr. Wyatt. Motion passed by unanimous approval of those in
attendance.
Clerk Report provided by Ms. Pinney – The alternate budget for 2005 is due
at Summit County on July 20, 2004.
Zoning Report provided by Ms. Pinney – The Board of Zoning Appeals is scheduled
for June 21 and the Briarwood Estates proposed subdivision has asked for a
continuance to the July meeting.
Road Report provided by Ms. Gilmore – The township will be going out to bid for
a culvert repair on Newton Road.
Administration report provided by Ms. Bowmer – There will be a Richfield tire
recycle on October 9, 2004 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. There will be a limit of
12 tires per residence and a fee of $1 per tire. The 4th of July is on a Sunday
this year and J&J Refuse will be picking up on the regular days that week.
In new business: Vern Hartenburg, Executive Director of the Cleveland Metroparks
was in attendance to discuss the possible acquisition of the Hinckley Township
ownership of Rising Valley Park. The Hinckley Township Trustees approached the
Metroparks to investigate this possibility. Mr. Hartenburg had a copy of a
Hinckley Township Resolution, approved on May 21, 2004 that indicated Hinckley
Township’s interest in the Metropark acquisition. The floor was opened to
questions and comments and a number of residents spoke in support or opposition
to the proposed acquisition.
Citizen’s Forum: Ms. Gilmore gave a history of the discussion regarding the
Rising Valley Park Board’s decision to close the gate at the Newton Road
entrance. Nearly twenty residents offered comment on the issue. The Park Board
will be setting a special meeting to discuss the issue further.
Motion was made to adjourn at 9:50 p.m. by Ms. Gilmore and seconded by Mr.
Wyatt. The motion passed by unanimous approval of those in attendance
