RICHFIELD TOWNSHIP BOARD OF TRUSTEES
June 3, 2004
The regularly scheduled Richfield Township Trustee Meeting was called to order
at 7:01 p.m. on June 3, 2004.

Richfield Police Chief: Dale Canter
Motion made by Mr. Wyatt and seconded by Ms. Gilmore to excuse Ms. Cica-Mraz
from the proceedings. Motion passed by unanimous approval of those in
attendance.
Motion made by Ms. Gilmore and seconded by Mr. Wyatt to accept the minutes of
May 20, 2004. Motion passed by unanimous approval of those in attendance.
Motion to accept warrant report items 10562 – 10584 made by Ms. Gilmore and
seconded by Mr. Wyatt. Motion passed by unanimous approval of those in
attendance.
Mr. Canter provided the police report. There were 163 total calls made, with 24
in the township, which is 15% of the total. Mr. Canter provided a copy of the
call detail to the township for the record.
In Mr. Stopak’s absence, the fire report was given by Mr. Canter. There were 14
township fire calls and 18 township rescue calls during the month. The complete
report of calls will be provided for the township’s records.
Ms. Gilmore provided the road report. Foreman Jerry Schall has returned to work.
In his absence, Phil Hrusch and Jason Mays have continued the regular
maintenance schedule. May 10 was a chipping week. Chris Eastwood helped out in
Mr. Schall’s absence. Over 50 cubic yards of material was chipped during the
week. The two remaining chipping weeks are scheduled for July and October. The
Trustees discussed the upcoming Newton Road culvert replacement, for which the
Summit County Engineer is preparing specifications.
Ms. Bowmer provided the administration report. The Rising Valley Park Board has
issued a press release, informing the public that the park drive will no longer
be open to through traffic. Next week is the joint Bath/Richfield meeting.
Trustees can contact her regarding their interest in attending. The next
Township Association of Summit County meeting will host Sherry Bevan-Walsh,
Summit County Prosecutor as guest speaker.
In new business: Following five months of discussion for a fire contract,
Richfield Village has approved a contract. The township will have a one year
contract, allowing both parties to re-evaluate the proposed increase. The new
contract is for $282,387, which is a 15% increase over the $240,000 paid yearly
during the last contract term.
A motion was made by Ms. Gilmore and seconded by Mr. Wyatt to accept the fire
contract approved by Richfield Village, effective March 1, 2004 and continuing
through February 28, 2005. The motion passed by unanimous approval of those in
attendance.
Citizen’s Forum: Nick Konstandaras, of 3520 Brecksville Road, inquired about the
amount and payment terms for the new fire contract.
Rich Fleming, of 2780 Columbia Road, questioned the item in the fire contract
that discussed reimbursement of billings and wondered if all residents would be
billed. Only those residents who have insurance coverage would be billed.
Motion was made to adjourn at 7:34 by Ms. Gilmore and seconded by Mr. Wyatt.
