RICHFIELD TOWNSHIP BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING
SEPTEMBER 7, 2006

Richfield Township Trustees
The Richfield Township Board of Trustees met for a regular meeting
on September 7, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. with the following in attendance:
Shano Cica-Mraz, Trustee Chairperson
Laurie Peters Gilmore, Trustee
Linda Bowmer, Township Administrator
Laurie Pinney, Zoning Inspector
Joe Davis, Richfield Police
Joe Stopak, Richfield Fire
Tina Merletti, Summit County Emergency Management
Ruth Jocek, Village of Richfield
A motion was made by Ms. Cica-Mraz and seconded by Ms. Gilmore to
approve warrants #12375 through 12388. The motion passed with unanimous
approval.
Ms. Pinney provided the Fiscal Officer’s report. Charles Harris &
Associates was selected by the Auditor of State for the next two audits.
They will notify the township when the 2004-2005 audit is scheduled.
Mr. Davis provided the Police report. In July there were a total of 1469
calls, with 1308 in the village and 161 in the township. In August there
were a total of 1214 calls, with 1160 in the village and 154 in the
township. Two new cruisers have been delivered and will be on the road
in about two weeks. The collective bargaining agreement went into effect
in August. There will be an FOP reverse raffle on September 30. Tickets
are available from any police officer.
Mr. Stopak provided the Fire report. The total calls for August were
111, with the village having 44 ems and 28 fire and the township having
23 ems and 12 fire. There were 4 mutual aid calls. Instructions are
currently being given for operation of the new truck. All staff will be
fully trained and the truck will be placed in service in the next week.
The next equipment to be received is the equipment truck. CPR classes
are available for individuals and companies.
Ms. Gilmore had no news to report for the Road department.
The Administration report was provided by Ms. Bowmer. Estimates have
been received for the proposed drainage work at the Rising Valley Park
south soccer field. The trustees decided to table the discussion of the
work until the next meeting, when all three trustees are present.
Another ad for the surplus Road Dept. truck was run in the newspaper
today.
In New Business, Tina Merletti, of Summit County Emergency Management,
gave a report on the ExecMed program, which is a county-wide program for
prescription discounts and can be used in any pharmacy. The program is
geared for individuals who do not have Rx coverage or for
pharmaceuticals not covered under an individual’s plan.
Ruth Jocek, Director of Recreation for the Village of Richfield was
present to request a donation of $900 to be used to hire a youth advisor
for the Youth Commission, which is affiliated with the Healthy
Communities/Healthy Youth program. Bath Township and the Village of
Richfield are being asked the a donation in the same amount. The
trustees decided to table the discussion for the next meeting.
Ms. Gilmore requested that the meeting schedule be adjusted and the next
meeting will be held on September 20, 7:00 p.m.
A motion was made by Ms. Cica-Mraz and seconded by Ms. Gilmore to
adjourn at 2:15 p.m. The motion passed with unanimous approval.
