RESOLUTION #05 –2003

Ms Gilmore moved the adoption of the following resolution:

BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Trustees of Richfield Township that:

SECTION 1: This Board ratifies and confirms the creation of the Richfield Township Police District, consisting of the entire unincorporated territory of Richfield Township.

SECTION 2: This Board finds and determines that:

(a) The amount of taxes that may be raised within the ten-mill limitation will be insufficient to provide an adequate amount for the necessary requirements of the Richfield Township Police District.

(b) It is necessary to levy a tax in excess of the ten-mill limitation for the purpose of providing and maintaining motor vehicles, communications, and other equipment used directly in the operation of a police district and the payment of salaries of police personnel or for the payment of costs incurred as a result of contracts made with other political subdivisions in order to obtain police protection.

(c) The existing 3.6 mill levy for that purpose is in effect for a continuing period of time.

(d) This Board proposes to replace that levy in its entirety at the rate at which it is authorized to be levied.

SECTION 3: The question of the replacement of the necessary levy for the purpose of providing funds for police protection will be submitted to the electors of the Richfield Township Police District at the election to be held on May 6, 2003.
