RESOLUTION #11-2005

A RESOLUTION BY THE RICHFIELD TOWNSHIP TRUSTEES TO SUPPORT A BALANCED GROWTH INITIATIVE PILOT PROGRAM FOR YELLOW CREEK WATERSHED

WHEREAS, Richfield Township is a township organizing and operating under the laws of the State of Ohio and is located in a major portion of the Yellow Creek Watershed; and,

WHEREAS, Yellow Creek is listed by Ohio EPA as the highest quality stream flowing into the lower Cuyahoga River; and,

WHEREAS, Yellow Creek is listed by OEPA as a “Rapidly Urbanizing” watershed under Federal NPDES Phase II guidelines under significant threat from the increasing effects from urbanization; and,

WHEREAS, the trustees and citizens of Richfield Township are determined to work to protect and preserve Yellow Creek and the related watershed; and,

WHEREAS, the communities of the Yellow Creek Watershed wish to support the development of the Pilot Project on behalf of the Ohio Lake Erie Commission to develop effective techniques to implement watershed based planning and development; and,

WHEREAS, a Grant application has been prepared and submitted by the Cuyahoga River Remedial Action Plan to the Ohio Lake Erie Commission to secure funding for the development of a Pilot Project;

NOW, THEREFORE be it resolved, that Richfield Township hereby acknowledges their full support for the development of a Balanced Growth Pilot Project for the Yellow Creek Watershed; and,

FURTHER, hereby pledge to provide support and cooperation to the communities in the Yellow Creek Watershed Planning Partnership during the development of the Pilot Project; and,

FURTHER, hereby urges the Ohio Lake Erie Commission to select Yellow Creek Balanced Growth Initiative project for funding and support.
