RESOLUTION #03-2005

A RESOLUTION REQUESTING TO BE NOTIFIED OF
IMPENDING OIL AND GAS WELL DRILLING OPERATIONS IN
RICHFIELD TOWNSHIP, SUMMIT COUNTY, OHIO

WHEREAS, with the passage of House Bill 278 in 2004, the rules governing oil and gas exploration and drilling operations in Ohio changed the notification procedures required for a drilling permit application for oil and gas operators to local governments; and

WHEREAS, in order for local governments to receive notification they must formally request to be notified in writing to the Division Chief of the Ohio Department of Mineral Resources;

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Richfield Township Board of Trustees requests that the township be notified as soon as practical of any impending oil and gas exploration and drilling that would take place in Richfield Township, Summit County, Ohio.

FURTHER, that notification shall be directed to the Township Clerk with copies to the Township Administrator. Notification of the drilling permit application should be by electronic transfer or facsimile, or if those methods are not available, then notification may be made via regular mail.
