RESOLUTION #04-2005
LOCAL GOVERNMENT MONEY RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the budget and services of local communities and public service
organizations have relied strongly upon Local Government Funds since its
inception in 1934, and;
WHEREAS, a historic commitment of State Government to Local Government
has existed for over seven decades with the establishment of the Local
Government Fund (LGF) in 1934, the Library and Local Government Support fund (LLGSF)
in 1985, and the Local Government Revenue Assistance Fund (LGRAF) in 1989, and;
WHEREAS, Richfield Township, Summit County, as well as County Government
itself, sustains a higher quality of life throughout its community in part
because of the funding from Local Government Funds, and;
WHEREAS, the reduction or withdrawal of Local Government Funds would
significantly reduce the levels of services available to citizens from all local
governments throughout Summit County, and
WHEREAS, Richfield Township, Summit County, received $ 132,334.84 in
local government funds in 2004, which represented 27.5% of Richfield Township’s
General Fund, and was used to support all expenditures, many of which are
mandated by law, from our General Fund which includes payroll, OPERS (township
share), insurance (health & liability), Worker’s Compensation Insurance,
utilities, building maintenance, election fees and auditor’s fees, audit fees,
Uniform Accounting Network Fees, and any other expenses which are paid from the
General Fund.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that Richfield Township, Summit County,
hereby declare Local Government Funds essential to its operations and urges
Governor Taft and the Ohio General Assembly to sustain support of all Local
Government Funds.
