Overview
The Township Road Department has the hands on responsibility to provide the
maintenance and repairs for the Township roads and Township owned properties. The Road Foreman
acts in a supervisory capacity to conduct the services provided and acts as a
liaison with the Summit County Engineers Office, which shares in the
maintenance of the Townships roads. In addition to the programs and services
listed below the Service Department routinely performs ditch cleanings and
digging, maintains Township buildings and grounds, maintains Township
vehicles, provides necessary storm damage control and maintains 3 inactive
cemeteries.
Funding for many projects initiated by the Service Department is allocated
from the 1.3 mills Road and Bridge Levy, which currently generates approximately $183,700
per year. The current 5-year replacement levy, passed in May 2007, is set to expire in 2012. Monies
collected from the motor vehicle license tax, gasoline tax, and permissive motor
vehicle license tax also funds this operation.
