The zoning inspector administers and directs the enforcement of the Richfield Township Zoning Resolution and is responsible for the development and revision of the Richfield Township Land Use and Comprehensive Plan. Mr. Kendall Jarrell was appointed December, 2023 as Richfield Township's Zoning Inspector and can be reached by calling the Administration office at 330-659-4700 or k.jarrell@richfield-twp.org.

Most zoning regulations are a matter of common sense and help to make sure that people use their property in such a way that it is not detrimental to those living in the same area or the township as a whole.  To view the regulations please click on the following link:  Richfield Township Zoning Regulations (01-02-23).  For questions or clarification regarding the regulations, please contact the township zoning inspector.

Zoning ensures the orderly growth and development while preserving the character of Richfield Township.  The Richfield Township Comprehensive Land Use Plan was approved and adopted by the Board of Trustees, December 1, 2011 to maintain these visions and values.  To view or print a copy please click on the following link:  Comprehensive Land Use Plan December 1, 2011 Exhibits for the Comprehensive Plan can be found below.

Almost all construction, including fences, decks, homes and businesses require a zoning permit.  As a general guide, a brief outline is provided below which outlines requirements.  As always, for questions or clarification, please call or email the township zoning inspector.

In addition to the zoning inspector, Richfield Township has two appointed boards who deal with zoning related issues per the Ohio Revised Code.  The Zoning Commission holds meetings and public hearings for all changes to the Zoning Regulations.  The Board of Zoning Appeals may grant variances for the zoning regulations after a public hearing is held.
